Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Remote Network Administrator to join our globally distributed IT team, supporting Durban-based operations. In this fully remote role, you design, implement, maintain, and secure our network infrastructure to ensure high availability, optimal performance, and robust security across all systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in network administration and support.
• Proficiency with network hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) from major vendors.
• Strong understanding of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, routing protocols, and network security principles.
• Experience with cloud networking technologies (AWS VPC, Azure VNet) is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities and the capacity to work independently in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, and manage LANs, WANs, and wireless networks.
• Monitor network performance and troubleshoot connectivity issues, security threats, and hardware malfunctions.
• Implement and maintain network security measures, including firewalls, VPNs, intrusion detection/prevention systems.
• Perform regular network audits, system upgrades, and patching to ensure system integrity and security.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and procedures.
• Provide technical support and guidance to end-users and other IT staff regarding network-related issues.
