Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Health and Safety Manager to champion workplace safety across mining operations. This fully remote role requires strong leadership and remote collaboration to develop and implement HSMS, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a proactive safety culture.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in health and safety, a related degree, and professional certification; mining sector experience is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in health and safety management, with at least 5 years in the mining industry.
• Professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, NOSA) is highly desirable.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing effective safety management systems.
• Strong understanding of mining hazards, risk management principles, and relevant legislation.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust Health and Safety Management Systems (HSMS) across all operational sites.
• Conduct remote risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety audits.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant national and international health, safety, and environmental legislation and standards.
• Develop and deliver remote safety training programs and awareness campaigns.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, identifying root causes and recommending corrective actions.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies, site safety personnel, and senior management on all H&S matters.
