Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a skilled Mechanical Drafter for a remote contract position. You will produce detailed 2D/3D CAD drawings and models, translating engineering concepts into precise documentation and BOMs for manufacturing and installation.

Work with engineers to ensure drawings meet ASME/ISO standards and maintain clear project records. You will need strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor) and GD&T knowledge, with the ability to work independently and manage time in a remote

Qualifications

• Diploma or Certificate in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Drafting, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Mechanical Drafter or CAD Technician.
• Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor).
• Strong understanding of mechanical components, assemblies, and manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a remote environment.
• Good communication skills for remote collaboration.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and specifications.

Responsibilities

• Create and modify 2D and 3D CAD models and technical drawings based on engineering markups and specifications.
• Prepare detailed drawings for manufacturing, assembly, and installation.
• Ensure all drawings adhere to company drafting standards and industry best practices (e.g., ASME, ISO).
• Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) and parts lists from CAD models.
• Assist engineers in performing design reviews by providing drawing-related input.
• Maintain and organize CAD files and project documentation in a systematic manner.
• Collaborate remotely with engineers and other team members to clarify design intent.
• Perform basic dimensional checks and verification of drawing content.
• Support the creation of technical manuals and assembly instructions.
• Ensure efficient and timely completion of drafting tasks.
