Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Mechanical Design Engineer to join a global product development team in South Africa. You will design and develop mechanical components and assemblies for consumer electronics using 3D CAD and simulations.

You will validate designs with FEA, produce drawings and BOMs, and collaborate with remote cross-functional teams to ensure DFM/DFA and timely delivery. The role offers full remote work from anywhere in SA, a strong emphasis on innovative engineering, and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience.
• Strong portfolio of product development.
• Proficient in SolidWorks; experience with ANSYS.
• Excellent remote collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical components and assemblies using 3D CAD and simulations.
• Validate designs with FEA to ensure durability and performance.
• Create detailed drawings, specifications and BOMs for manufacturing.
• Collaborate with remote cross-functional teams via video and online tools.
• Work with manufacturing partners to ensure DFM/DFA.
• Troubleshoot issues during prototyping and production.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies.
• Manage design tasks and support project schedules.
