Placements24 in Pretoria seeks a creative Design Mechanical Engineer to contribute to innovative product development. You will conceptualize, design, and refine mechanical components that meet performance, aesthetic, and manufacturability requirements.

Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, and marketing to bring new products from ideation to market launch. You will prototype, test, and validate designs, perform analyses, and optimize solutions for mass production.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related design-focused discipline.
Minimum of 6 years of product design and mechanical development experience.
Expertise in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360) and associated simulation tools.
Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, materials science, and design for manufacturability (DFM).
Strong portfolio showcasing innovative mechanical designs and problem-solving capabilities.

Responsibilities

Conceptualize, design, and develop new mechanical products and systems using advanced 3D CAD modeling software.
Create detailed engineering drawings, specifications, and Bill of Materials (BOM) for manufacturing.
Conduct prototyping, testing, and validation of designs to ensure functionality and performance meet project goals.
Collaborate with manufacturing engineers to optimize designs for mass production and cost-effectiveness.
Perform tolerance analysis, stress calculations, and other engineering analyses to ensure design integrity.
Research and evaluate new materials, technologies, and design methodologies to enhance product innovation.
