Placements24 seeks a seasoned Lead Project Manager to drive large-scale IT infrastructure initiatives across data centers, networks, cloud, and security. This fully remote role welcomes candidates from Vereeniging, Gauteng or globally with reliable connectivity.

Qualifications

About the Role

Our client, a prominent international financial services group, is actively seeking an experienced Lead Project Manager to spearhead critical IT infrastructure projects. This is a fully remote position, allowing you to contribute from anywhere within Vereeniging, Gauteng, or beyond, provided you have a reliable internet connection. You will be instrumental in managing the design, implementation, and upgrade of the company's global IT infrastructure, including networks, servers, cloud environments, and data centers. This role demands exceptional leadership, a deep technical understanding of IT infrastructure, and a proven ability to manage complex, geographically dispersed projects in a virtual setting. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the stability, security, and scalability of our client's technological backbone.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of large-scale IT infrastructure projects globally.
• Define project scope, objectives, technical requirements, and deliverables in conjunction with IT leadership and business stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, risk assessments, and budget management.
• Manage and coordinate cross-functional IT teams (networking, systems administration, cybersecurity, cloud engineering) and external vendors.
• Oversee the implementation of new infrastructure technologies, system upgrades, and migrations.
• Ensure all infrastructure projects adhere to security best practices, compliance regulations, and internal policies.
• Proactively identify, track, and mitigate project risks and issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business operations.
• Facilitate clear and consistent communication with all stakeholders, providing regular status reports and managing expectations.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within IT infrastructure management and project delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 4 years in a lead or senior project management role.
• Proven track record of successfully delivering complex IT infrastructure projects (e.g., data center builds/migrations, cloud deployments, network upgrades).
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components: networking (TCP/IP, WAN, LAN), servers (Windows, Linux), virtualization (VMware), cloud platforms (AWS, Azure), and cybersecurity principles.
• Experience managing remote teams and utilizing remote collaboration tools effectively.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Proficiency with project management methodologies (Agile, Waterfall) and tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project).
• ITIL or PMP certification is a significant advantage.
