About the Role

Our client is seeking a highly experienced Senior Project Manager to lead critical IT infrastructure and operations projects. This role will involve managing the planning, execution, and delivery of projects focused on upgrading and maintaining our client's technological backbone. You will oversee initiatives related to network infrastructure, cloud migration, data center operations, and cybersecurity enhancements. The ideal candidate will have a robust understanding of IT infrastructure components, project management best practices, and a proven ability to manage complex, technical projects within scope, budget, and timelines. This is a remote-first position, allowing you to work from anywhere in South Africa while contributing to significant technological advancements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the complete lifecycle of IT infrastructure and operations projects, from initiation to closure.
• Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets, ensuring efficient resource allocation.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional technical teams, including network engineers, system administrators, and security specialists.
• Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
• Ensure project deliverables meet technical specifications, quality standards, and security requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships and oversee the procurement of hardware, software, and services.
• Facilitate clear and consistent communication with stakeholders, including IT leadership and business unit representatives.
• Oversee the implementation and transition of new infrastructure components into production environments.
• Conduct post-project reviews, documenting lessons learned and driving continuous improvement in IT project delivery.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• A minimum of 7 years of experience in project management, with a strong focus on IT infrastructure, cloud computing, networking, or cybersecurity projects.
• Proven experience managing complex, large-scale IT infrastructure deployments and migrations.
• Strong understanding of ITIL frameworks, network protocols, cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), and cybersecurity principles.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Jira, MS Project, Asana) and collaboration tools.
• Excellent leadership, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience working in a remote or hybrid team environment is essential.
• PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or relevant technical certifications (e.g., CCNA, AWS Certified Solutions Architect) are highly desirable.
• Experience within the Mpumalanga region or South Africa is a plus.
• Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
