Placements24 is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead critical IT infrastructure and cloud services projects in Johannesburg. You will oversee planning, execution, and delivery of complex technology initiatives, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder expectations.

The ideal candidate has extensive IT project management experience, including infrastructure deployment, cloud migrations (AWS, Azure, GCP), and network engineering, with strong leadership and communication

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• PMP or Prince2 certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3 years on infrastructure and cloud environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end management of IT infrastructure and cloud services projects from initiation to closure.
• Develop comprehensive project plans, including scope definition, resource allocation, risk assessment, and budget management.
• Coordinate and manage cross-functional project teams, including IT engineers, network specialists, cloud architects, and third-party vendors.
• Oversee the successful execution of cloud migration strategies, data center consolidations, network upgrades, and system deployments.
• Monitor project progress, identify potential roadblocks, and implement proactive solutions to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels, providing regular project updates, status reports, and performance metrics.
• Ensure adherence to project management best practices, methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall), and company standards.
• Manage project risks, issues, and changes, implementing appropriate mitigation and control strategies.
• Facilitate project review meetings, post-project evaluations, and lessons learned sessions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
• PMP or Prince2 certification is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in IT project management, with at least 3 years focused on infrastructure and cloud environments.
• Proven experience managing large-scale cloud migration projects (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
• Strong understanding of IT infrastructure components, including servers, storage, networking, virtualization, and cybersecurity principles.
• Demonstrated experience with project management software (e.g., MS Project, Jira, Asana).
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage complex projects with multiple dependencies and stakeholders.
• Experience working in a hybrid work environment, balancing on-site collaboration with remote autonomy.
• Familiarity with DevOps principles and CI/CD pipelines is a plus.
