Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Lead Mining Engineer for a fully remote role, overseeing strategic planning and execution across multiple sites. You will lead a team of mining engineers, drive safety, efficiency and profitability from a distance, and apply advanced mining technologies to complex challenges.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in mining engineering, including leadership, and hands-on experience with open-pit or underground methods and planning tools such as Deswik, Vulcan,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering; Master's degree advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive mining engineering experience, including at least 3 years in leadership.
• Experience with open-pit and/or underground mining methods and planning techniques.
• Proficiency with Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac and other planning software.
• Strong understanding of mine economics, project management, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent communication and leadership for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop and oversee long-term and short-term mine plans, including production schedules and cost forecasting.
• Lead and mentor a remote team of mining engineers.
• Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for projects.
• Implement safety, environmental compliance, and operational efficiency across sites.
• Utilize mine planning software to optimize extraction methods.
• Collaborate with geologists, metallurgists, and stakeholders for integrated operations.
