Placements24 is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical design for large-scale renewable energy projects. • Minimum 6 years of progressive experience in electrical design with renewable energy focus.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for renewable energy projects (single-line diagrams, schematics, layouts).
• Perform power system studies including load flow, short circuit, and grounding design.
• Select and specify electrical equipment for utility-scale projects (transformers, switchgear, inverters, cabling).
• Ensure designs comply with IEC, IEEE, NEC and other standards.
• Collaborate with civil, structural, and mechanical engineers for integrated solutions.
• Prepare BOMs and design documentation for procurement and construction.
• Provide technical support during bidding, construction, and commissioning stages.
• Review designs by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Stay current with emerging technologies in renewable energy electrical design.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop detailed electrical designs for renewable energy projects, including single-line diagrams, schematics, and layouts.
• Perform power system studies such as load flow, short circuit analysis, and grounding system design.
• Select and specify electrical equipment, including transformers, switchgear, inverters, and cabling, for utility-scale projects.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant international and national electrical codes and standards (e.g., IEC, IEEE, NEC).
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including civil, structural, and mechanical engineers, to ensure integrated project solutions.
• Prepare technical specifications, bills of materials (BOM), and design documentation for procurement and construction.
• Provide technical support during the bidding, construction, and commissioning phases of projects.
• Review designs prepared by junior engineers and external consultants.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and best practices in renewable energy electrical design.
• Participate actively in remote design reviews and project coordination meetings.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Master's degree is a plus.
• Minimum of 6 years of progressive experience in electrical design, with a strong focus on renewable energy (solar, wind) or power systems.
• Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, PVSyst, ETAP, Helioscope).
• Solid understanding of power electronics, grid interconnection requirements, and protection schemes for renewable energy facilities.
• Familiarity with relevant industry standards and best practices for utility-scale energy projects.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with meticulous attention to detail.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, adapted for remote collaboration.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet project deadlines in a remote setting.
• Experience with AC/DC systems and distributed generation is highly desirable.
• Professional Engineer (Pr.Eng) registration is an advantage.
