Placements24 is seeking a Remote Electrical Design Engineer to design and develop electrical systems for solar and other renewable energy installations. You will create schematics, select components, and ensure designs meet IEC/SANS/NEC standards while working with a distributed team.

This remote role requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, 5+ years in renewable energy design, and proficiency in AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical design with renewable energy focus.
• Proficiency in electrical CAD software: AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, EPLAN.
• Familiarity with IEC, SANS, NEC codes and standards.
• Strong problem-solving and communication skills for remote collaboration.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

• Design electrical systems for solar photovoltaic (PV) and other renewable energy projects, including system architecture, component selection, and layout.
• Produce detailed electrical drawings, schematics, single-line diagrams, and wiring schedules using AutoCAD Electrical or similar software.
• Perform electrical calculations, including voltage drop, fault current analysis, and load assessments.
• Ensure designs comply with relevant electrical codes, standards (e.g., IEC, SANS), and project-specific requirements.
• Collaborate with project managers, construction teams, and other engineers remotely to ensure seamless project execution.
• Prepare technical documentation, including specifications, Bill of Materials (BOMs), and design reports.
• Troubleshoot and resolve design-related issues that may arise during installation or commissioning phases.
• Research and evaluate new electrical components, technologies, and design tools to improve efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in renewable energy electrical design.
• Participate in virtual design reviews and provide constructive feedback.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
