About the Role

Our client is seeking an exceptional Lead Construction Project Manager to spearhead a portfolio of high-profile construction projects from a fully remote capacity. This is a senior leadership role within our client's innovative and digitally-enabled construction division. This includes acquiring resources and coordinating the efforts of team members and third-party contractors or consultants to deliver projects according to plan. The ideal candidate possesses a deep understanding of construction methodologies, project management principles, and a proven track record of successfully delivering complex projects in a virtual setting.

Key Responsibilities

Oversee all aspects of construction projects, from inception to completion, ensuring they are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget. Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation using project management software. Coordinate and manage the work of internal teams, subcontractors, and suppliers in a virtual environment. Conduct regular project status meetings with stakeholders, providing clear and concise updates on progress, risks, and issues. Implement and enforce stringent quality control measures and safety protocols on all project sites, utilizing remote inspection technologies where applicable. Manage project budgets, track expenses, and ensure financial objectives are met. Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks, developing contingency plans as needed. Negotiate contracts with vendors and suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions. Foster a collaborative and productive working relationship with all project stakeholders. Maintain accurate project documentation and ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and standards.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field. A Master's degree or PMP certification is highly advantageous. Minimum of 10 years of experience in construction project management, with a significant portion gained in leadership roles. Demonstrated success in managing large-scale, complex construction projects from initiation to closeout. Expertise in construction management software (e.g., Procore, MS Project, Primavera P6) and collaboration platforms. Strong understanding of construction techniques, materials, and building codes, particularly those relevant to South Africa. Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, essential for remote team management. Proven ability to manage budgets, control costs, and ensure profitability. Ability to analyze and interpret complex blueprints, specifications, and legal documents. Experience in risk management and proactive problem-solving. Must possess a dedicated home office setup conducive to remote work and have reliable internet connectivity.
