Placements24 is seeking an experienced Lead Chemical Engineer for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will drive process optimization, implement advanced process control, and lead feasibility studies to improve throughput, reduce costs, and advance sustainability across global manufacturing operations.

The senior position requires a Master’s in Chemical Engineering and at least 10 years of progressive experience with a strong track record of measurable improvements.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or related discipline.
• At least 10 years of progressive chemical process engineering experience with focus on optimization and scale-up.
• Proven track record of cost savings or efficiency gains from process improvements.
• Expertise in process modeling/simulation software (CHEMCAD, gPROMS).
• Strong background in SPC and Six Sigma methodologies.
• Excellent project management and leadership of cross-functional teams.
• Superior analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent remote communication and presentation skills.

Responsabilités

• Spearhead analysis and optimization of chemical processes to improve throughput and reduce waste.
• Develop and implement advanced process control strategies and data analytics.
• Lead techno-economic feasibility studies for modifications and new tech.
• Collaborate with plant ops, R&D, and mgmt to integrate improvements.
• Design and run pilot plant trials to validate changes.
• Ensure changes meet safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Provide technical mentorship to a team of engineers.
• Prepare detailed proposals, specs, and final reports.
• Champion adoption of digital tools for process improvement.
