Placements24 is seeking a Junior Legal Associate to join the litigation team on a fully remote basis. This role is ideal for a newly qualified or early-career lawyer eager to gain hands-on experience in diverse litigation matters while working from home.

You will support senior attorneys, conduct research, and help prepare documents, with opportunities for mentorship and future non-remote progression. The position offers a flexible remote工作环境 and exposure to a broad range of cases, including

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent.
• Admission as candidate attorney or advocate in South Africa.
• Up to 3 years post-qualification experience in litigation is advantageous, but ambitious graduates will be considered.
• Strong legal research and analytical skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
• Proficiency in legal research databases (LexisNexis, Westlaw) and general office software.
• Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines in a remote setting.
• High level of organization and attention to detail.
• Proactive and diligent approach to legal work.

Responsabilidades

• Assist senior lawyers in preparing and filing legal documents (pleadings, motions, discovery).
• Conduct legal research using online databases to support case strategy.
• Organize and manage case files, ensuring documentation is accurate and up-to-date.
• Communicate with clients, witnesses, and court personnel as directed by supervising attorneys.
• Attend virtual court hearings, depositions, and client meetings as required.
• Draft correspondence, affidavits and other legal documents under supervision.
• Summarize deposition transcripts and relevant documents.
• Support trial preparation activities, including exhibit management and witness preparation.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and conduct standards.
