Placements24 is assisting a reputable Centurion law firm in seeking a motivated Junior Associate for its Litigation department. The role blends in-office collaboration with remote flexibility, offering exposure to diverse matters and mentorship from senior litigators.

The successful candidate will contribute to case preparation, research, and client engagement, while developing essential skills in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Qualifications

• LLB degree.
• Admitted or eligible for admission as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• 0-3 years of post-qualification experience in a legal or litigation-focused role.
• Solid understanding of South African civil procedure and litigation principles.
• Strong legal research and writing skills.
• Excellent organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and legal research platforms.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Residency in Centurion, Gauteng area or willingness to work there for the in-office component.

Responsibilities

• Assist senior litigators in all stages of litigation, from initial case assessment to trial preparation.
• Conduct thorough legal research on case law, statutes, and procedural rules relevant to ongoing litigation.
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, notices, and other legal documents under supervision.
• Prepare court bundles and manage case files meticulously.
• Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials as directed.
• Attend court proceedings, conferences, and client meetings as required.
• Assist with discovery processes, including document review and analysis.
• Contribute to the development of case strategies and legal arguments.
• Maintain detailed records of billable hours and case progress.
• Uphold the firm's professional standards and ethical obligations at all times.
