Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a highly analytical Risk Analyst to join a fully remote team. You will identify, assess, and mitigate risks tied to insurance products and operations, using advanced data analysis and statistical modeling to inform strategic decisions and protect financial health.

Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and compliance teams; develop risk models, stress tests, and scenario analyses; monitor controls and stay current with regulatory changes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years experience as a Risk Analyst or in a similar quantitative role within the insurance industry.
• Strong proficiency in statistical software (R, Python, SAS) and data manipulation tools.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data.
• Experience with risk modeling, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
• Effective communication skills for presenting technical information to non-technical audiences in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain risk models to quantify potential financial impacts and identify key risk drivers.
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, patterns, and emerging risks within the insurance portfolio.
• Prepare comprehensive risk reports and present findings and recommendations to management and relevant committees.
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and compliance teams to implement risk mitigation strategies.
• Monitor the effectiveness of existing risk controls and recommend improvements.
• Stay abreast of regulatory changes and industry best practices in risk analysis and management.
