Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly analytical Senior Insurance Risk Analyst to join the Stellenbosch team. You will identify and mitigate risks across the insurance portfolio, translate complex data into actionable recommendations, and support senior leadership in maintaining a robust risk framework.

The role requires mastery of statistical modeling and advanced data tools (R, Python, SQL) with several years of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Economics, Statistics, or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years of experience in risk management, actuarial science, or financial analysis within insurance.
• Advanced proficiency in statistical modeling, data analysis tools (e.g. R, Python, SQL), and risk modeling software.
• Strong understanding of insurance products, regulations, and capital requirements.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement risk assessment frameworks and methodologies.
• Analyze financial data, market trends, and operations to identify risks.
• Quantify and model impact of risk scenarios on the business.
• Design and recommend risk mitigation strategies and controls.
• Prepare detailed risk reports and present findings to management.
