Job summary

Placements24 in Upington, Northern Cape, seeks an Information Security Specialist to maintain the integrity and confidentiality of information systems and data. This role is based in Upington with a fully remote work arrangement across South Africa.

You will implement and manage security controls, monitor threats, and ensure regulatory compliance while collaborating with IT operations, and providing security awareness training to staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.

Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain security measures across IT systems and networks.
• Monitor security alerts and logs for suspicious activities and potential security incidents.
• Respond to and investigate security incidents, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Assist in the development and enforcement of information security policies and procedures.
• Conduct regular security awareness training for staff.
• Perform vulnerability assessments and penetration testing as required.
• Manage and maintain security hardware and software, including firewalls and antivirus solutions.
• Ensure compliance with data protection regulations and industry best practices.
• Collaborate with IT operations to ensure security is integrated into system designs and upgrades.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest cybersecurity threats and vulnerabilities.
