Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Industrial Engineer with 7+ years of experience to optimize complex production systems from anywhere in South Africa. The role emphasizes Lean and Six Sigma, process simulation, and cross-functional collaboration in a remote-first environment.

You will analyze production processes, develop strategic improvements, and implement changes that boost productivity and quality while reducing costs. A strong background in automation and KPI-driven projects is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering or closely related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in industrial engineering with a focus on production/manufacturing environments.
• Demonstrated Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma knowledge; Green/Black Belt desirable.
• Proficiency with process simulation software such as Arena, AnyLogic, FlexSim.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
• Excellent virtual communication and collaboration in a distributed team.
• Proven ability to manage complex projects remotely.
• Experience with performance metrics and dashboards; automation knowledge a plus.

Responsibilities

• Analyze existing production lines to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks.
• Design, develop and implement solutions to improve throughput and reduce cycle times.
• Use process simulation to evaluate improvements before implementation.
• Develop SOPs and work instructions for optimized processes.
• Collaborate virtually with production, engineering and management.
• Define, track and report KPIs related to production efficiency, quality and cost.
• Facilitate root cause analyses for deviations and corrective actions.
• Stay current with manufacturing technologies, automation and IE best practices.
• Prepare detailed technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.
• Contribute to long-term strategic plans for manufacturing system enhancements.
