Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced Remote HSE Manager for a global energy client. You will lead HSE strategy, policies, and compliance across a distributed, fully remote workforce in South Africa, ensuring safety and environmental protection throughout operations.

You will drive risk management, incident investigations, audits, and emergency planning while mentoring the HSE team and liaising with regulators. A senior, proactive leader with ISO 14001/45001 knowledge is preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher qualification in HSE-related field.
• Master's degree is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive HSE strategies, policies, and management systems.
• Ensure compliance with national and international HSE regulations and best practices.
• Oversee risk assessment, hazard identification and control measures.
• Develop and manage incident investigation procedures with root-cause analysis.
• Promote a strong HSE culture through training and engagement across all levels.
• Conduct HSE audits and performance reviews to identify areas for improvement.
• Develop and manage emergency preparedness and response plans.
• Advise senior management on HSE performance, risks, and opportunities.
• Liaise with regulatory bodies and external stakeholders on HSE matters.
• Mentor the HSE team and foster cross-department collaboration.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline
