Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to lead our HSE program in a remote-first capacity. This role covers multiple locations including Centurion, Gauteng, and emphasizes strong governance, risk mitigation, and environmental stewardship across a dispersed workforce.

You will develop, implement, and manage comprehensive HSE policies and training, ensuring compliance with SA legislation and international standards while fostering a proactive safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum 7 years of experience in HSE management, preferably within mining/industrial sector.
• Professional certification such as CSP, CIH, or NEBOSH is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain HSE management systems in line with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies across sites.
• Oversee incident investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with SA health, safety and environmental legislation and permit requirements.

About the Role

Our client is looking for a seasoned Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Manager to join their team in a fully remote capacity, overseeing operations across various locations including Centurion, Gauteng. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing comprehensive HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and industry best practices. You will play a critical role in fostering a strong safety culture, mitigating risks, and promoting environmental stewardship across the organization, despite the geographically dispersed nature of the workforce. Key Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain robust HSE management systems aligned with international standards (e.g., ISO 45001, ISO 14001).
• Conduct risk assessments, hazard identification, and develop mitigation strategies for all operational areas.
• Oversee incident investigation, root cause analysis, and the implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable health, safety, and environmental legislation and permit requirements.
• Develop and deliver HSE training programs to employees and contractors across different sites.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
