Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Grid Integration Engineer to join a fully remote engineering team supporting renewable energy integration into South Africa's national grid. You will conduct studies, develop connection requirements, and collaborate with utilities to enable solar and wind projects.

The role requires 5+ years in power systems, expertise in PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD, and a solid understanding of grid codes and transmission operations. Remote work is supported with strong cross‑team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with Power Systems focus.
• 5+ years in power systems engineering, with grid integration experience.
• Proficient in power system analysis software (PSS/E, ETAP, PSCAD).
• Strong knowledge of grid codes and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Perform grid interconnection studies, including stability, fault level, and short circuit analysis for renewable energy projects.
• Develop technical specifications and requirements for grid connection equipment and systems.
• Collaborate with utility companies and grid operators to ensure compliance with interconnection standards and regulations.
• Analyze the impact of renewable energy generation on grid stability and identify mitigation strategies.
• Support the development of grid codes and standards related to renewable energy integration.
• Review and approve technical designs and proposals for grid interconnection infrastructure.
