Placements24 is seeking a highly capable Commercial Contracts Attorney for a remote-first role in South Africa. You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements across suppliers, partners, customers, and service providers, ensuring compliance with SA laws and cross-border regulations.

You will provide pragmatic legal advice, manage contract lifecycles, and develop standard templates while collaborating with diverse teams.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney with a minimum of 6 years of post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in drafting and negotiating complex international commercial agreements.
• Strong understanding of contract law principles, competition law, consumer protection, and IP law.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate a broad spectrum of commercial contracts with suppliers, partners, customers, and service providers.
• Provide expert legal advice on contractual terms, risks, and liabilities associated with business transactions.
• Ensure all contracts comply with South African laws and laws of other jurisdictions where the company operates.
• Assist in developing and implementing standard contract templates and internal legal policies.
• Manage contract lifecycle processes, including renewals, amendments, and terminations.
• Conduct legal research on commercial law matters and advise on evolving regulatory landscapes.
• Collaborate with business development, procurement, and sales teams to identify and mitigate legal risks.
• Support resolution of contractual disputes and guidance on enforcement of rights.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of contract management systems and processes.
• Advise on international trade and cross-border transaction-specific legalities.
