Placements24 is seeking a Legal Officer focused on Commercial & Contractual matters for a fully remote role in South Africa. You will draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial agreements and provide pragmatic legal advice to support business growth.

You should have an LLB and at least 4 years in commercial contract law, with strong SA law knowledge, excellent communication, and the ability to work independently from a remote location.

Qualifications

• LLB or equivalent legal qualification.
• Minimum 4 years in commercial contract law.
• Strong knowledge of SA contract law.
• Experience drafting, reviewing, negotiating complex contracts.
• Independent worker in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements (service, supply, leases, partnerships).
• Provide legal advice on contractual matters and commercial transactions.
• Ensure contracts comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Manage the contract lifecycle from initiation to renewal/termination.
• Identify legal risks in contracts and propose mitigations.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Conduct legal research on commercial issues as required.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to meet business needs.
• Support dispute resolution related to contracts.
