Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Environmental Compliance Officer to oversee environmental standards for its mining operations. You will develop, implement, and monitor environmental management systems to ensure compliance across sites while promoting sustainable mining practices.

This fully remote role requires a bachelor’s in environmental science or engineering, 5+ years of experience, and the ability to conduct remote audits, prepare regulatory reports, and train site teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree beneficial for advanced roles.
• 5+ years of experience in environmental management and compliance, preferably mining.
• In-depth knowledge of mining environmental legislation, regulations, and permitting.
• Experience with EIAs and EMPs.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and report-writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement environmental management plans and policies to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Conduct internal audits and site assessments, remotely where feasible.
• Monitor environmental performance indicators, analyze data, and prepare reports for regulators and management.
• Provide guidance and training to site teams on best practices and permitting requirements.
• Investigate environmental incidents and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Stay updated on evolving environmental laws and mining industry practices.
