Job summary

Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a Sustainability Officer to champion environmental initiatives within our energy operations, working remotely with primary support for the Benoni base. You will develop strategies to reduce environmental impact, promote energy efficiency, and ensure compliance with sustainability regulations.

Collaborating across departments, you will monitor KPIs, report on carbon and energy usage, and engage with government and industry bodies.

Qualifications

• Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or a related field.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing sustainability initiatives in energy.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, carbon accounting, and sustainable energy practices.
• Excellent research, analytical and reporting skills.
• Experience working remotely with diverse teams.
• Passion for environmental protection and sustainable development.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sustainability strategies and action plans for the energy sector.
• Monitor and report on environmental KPIs, including carbon emissions and energy use.
• Ensure compliance with environmental legislation and industry standards.
• Identify opportunities for energy efficiency improvements and cleaner energy sources.
• Engage with government, communities and industry on sustainability matters.
• Conduct environmental impact assessments and mitigate impacts.
