Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Officer to join their remote team, overseeing EHS compliance for energy projects. You will ensure activities meet safety, health, and environmental standards across diverse sites.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science or related field and at least 3 years’ experience in EHS management within energy or construction. Strong knowledge of SA legislation and risk assessment methods is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety or related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in EHS management, preferably in energy or construction.
• Strong knowledge of South African environmental and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication, reporting and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage EHS policies and procedures for energy projects.
• Conduct regular site inspections and safety audits to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, recommending and implementing corrective actions.
• Deliver EHS training programs to project personnel and contractors.
• Maintain EHS documentation, records, and performance metrics.
• Advise project management teams on EHS risks and mitigation strategies.
• Stay updated on relevant legislation and industry best practices in EHS for the energy sector.
