Placements24 is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety Specialist to lead EHS programs across the Soweto region. You will develop and enforce policies, conduct audits, and drive incident investigations to minimize hazards and environmental impact.

The role requires a minimum of 5 years in EHS, strong knowledge of SA legislation, and experience delivering training while maintaining records and reports for management and regulators.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience in an EHS role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
• In-depth knowledge of South African environmental and occupational health and safety legislation.
• Experience with risk assessment, hazard identification, and incident investigation techniques.
• Strong communication, training, and presentation skills.
• Proficiency in EHS management systems and reporting tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Conduct regular site inspections and audits to identify potential hazards and recommend corrective actions.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, documenting findings and implementing preventative measures.
• Develop and deliver EHS training programs to employees at all levels.
• Manage waste disposal, emissions monitoring, and other environmental compliance activities.
• Maintain EHS records and prepare regular reports for management and regulatory agencies.
