Placements24 is seeking a Remote Energy Data Scientist to advance ML models for energy forecasting and analytics from anywhere in South Africa. The role focuses on processing large-scale energy data, designing predictive models, and delivering dashboards to stakeholders.

You will collaborate with engineers and business analysts, stay current with ML advances, and contribute to the renewable energy transition in a fully remote setup with flexible hours.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related quantitative field.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Data Scientist with a focus on analytical modeling and machine learning.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R, and libraries like TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn.
• Experience with large datasets and big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Experience in energy sector or energy-related data is highly desirable.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication skills, and ability to thrive in a remote, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and deploy ML models for energy forecasting, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
• Analyze large datasets from smart meters, grid sensors, and market platforms to extract insights.
• Develop data visualization dashboards and reports for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Collaborate with engineers and business analysts to define data requirements and KPIs.
• Implement and optimize data pipelines and workflows for processing energy data.
• Stay current with advances in data science and energy applications.
