Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly experienced Remote Aircraft Systems Engineer to join our client’s aviation technology team. You will design, develop, test, and integrate software for aircraft systems, focusing on safety, performance and reliability, from a remote home office.

The role requires 5+ years in embedded software for aerospace, proficiency in C/C++/Python, experience with RTOS and DO-178C, and strong collaboration with global teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in a relevant field.
• 5+ years of embedded software experience in aerospace/aviation.
• Proficient in C, C++, Python or Ada.
• Experience with RTOS and safety-critical software development.
• Familiarity with ARINC 429, AFDX and DO-178C.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and deploy software for aircraft systems (flight control, navigation, comms).
• Collaborate with hardware engineers, system architects, and safety experts in a remote setting.
• Maintain software requirements, specifications, and design docs.
• Perform software integration and verification activities for seamless operation.
• Conduct code reviews, unit tests, and system tests for quality and reliability.
• Troubleshoot complex software issues identified during development or testing.
• Contribute to improvement of development processes and methodologies.
• Stay updated on advances in aviation software and embedded systems.
• Ensure development adheres to aviation safety standards (DO-178C).
• Participate in virtual team meetings, design discussions, and project planning.
