Placements24 is seeking a Remote Electrical Systems Architect to define and evolve the architectural vision for next‑gen electrical systems across smart grids and industrial applications. Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in electrical system architecture.
• Deep knowledge of power system dynamics, protection, stability, and distributed generation integration.
• Proficiency with system modeling and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, PSCAD, ETAP).
• Experience with communication protocols relevant to smart grids (IEC 61850, DNP3, Modbus).
• Familiarity with cloud platforms and IoT architectures for managing distributed energy resources.
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem-solving, and abstract reasoning abilities.
• Must be legally eligible to work remotely in South Africa.

Responsibilities

• Architect and design scalable, resilient, and secure electrical systems for smart grids, microgrids, and industrial applications.
• Define system requirements, standards, and interfaces, ensuring interoperability and integration of diverse components.
• Lead the technical design process, including component selection, system topology, and control strategies.
• Develop and maintain comprehensive system documentation, including architectural diagrams, specifications, and data models.
• Collaborate effectively with remote engineering teams, product managers, and research scientists across different time zones.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and propose innovative solutions to enhance system performance and efficiency.
• Conduct system-level performance analysis, simulations, and modeling to validate architectural designs.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to engineering teams, ensuring adherence to architectural principles.
• Contribute to the development of intellectual property and technical white papers.
