Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Environmental Health and Safety Coordinator to support diverse operations across South Africa. You will coordinate remote EHS programs, develop policies, and analyze data to ensure regulatory compliance while guiding site teams through virtual channels.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years in EHS, strong SA regulatory knowledge, and proven ability to work independently in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in an EHS role, with demonstrable experience coordinating programs.
• Solid understanding of South African EHS legislation and regulations.
• Proven ability to work independently and manage tasks effectively in a remote environment.
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and report-writing skills.
• Strong virtual communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and EHS management software.
• Ability to interpret data and identify trends.
• Experience in conducting risk assessments and developing mitigation strategies.
• Commitment to promoting a strong safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the implementation and monitoring of Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) programs remotely.
• Assist in the development and review of EHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Conduct remote EHS risk assessments and identify potential hazards.
• Analyze EHS data and prepare regular compliance reports for management.
• Provide EHS guidance and support to operational teams via virtual channels.
• Maintain EHS documentation, records, and training materials.
• Facilitate and track corrective actions arising from audits and incident investigations.
• Stay updated on EHS legislation and best practices, advising on necessary changes.
• Organize and coordinate virtual EHS training sessions for employees.
• Serve as a point of contact for EHS-related queries from various business units.
