Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Health and Safety Compliance Officer to champion safety across our cleaning-focused operations in South Africa. This remote role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring HSE programs tailored to the cleaning sector, ensuring compliance with national legislation and best practices.

You will conduct risk assessments, lead training, maintain records, and advise management on safety improvements while working autonomously from a home office.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety or related field is required.
• Professional certification such as SAMTRAC or NEBOSH is highly desirable.
• Minimum of 5 years in a health and safety role, with knowledge of the cleaning services industry.
• Solid understanding of SA health and safety legislation (OHS Act, COSHH).
• Proven ability to develop and implement effective health and safety management systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety policies for the cleaning industry.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement controls for hazards.
• Ensure compliance with national and local health and safety legislation.
