Placements24 in South Africa is seeking a dedicated Remote Environmental Health & Safety Officer to join a national facilities management group. You will develop, implement and monitor EHS programs remotely, conduct virtual risk assessments and advise site teams to uphold occupational safety and environmental standards.

The role requires a Bachelor's in EHS, at least five years in EHS management, strong knowledge of regulations, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Health & Safety, Occupational Safety, or a related field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in EHS management.
• In-depth knowledge of EHS legislation, standards, and best practices.
• Proven ability to conduct effective incident investigations and risk assessments.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders remotely.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
• Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering EHS training programs.
• Proficiency in using EHS management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Must be highly organized, self‑motivated, and capable of managing time effectively in a remote work environment.
• Previous experience in a remote or virtual role is highly advantageous.

Responsabilités

• Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) policies and procedures.
• Conduct remote risk assessments, incident investigations, and root cause analyses for all reported EHS issues.
• Provide expert EHS guidance and support to operational teams across various locations.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable national and local EHS regulations and standards.
• Develop and deliver engaging EHS training materials and programs virtually.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date EHS records, including incident reports, training logs, and audit findings.
• Monitor EHS performance metrics and generate regular reports for senior management.
• Stay abreast of changes in EHS legislation and best practices, recommending necessary updates to company policies.
• Facilitate virtual EHS committee meetings and promote a strong safety culture.
• Coordinate with external regulatory bodies and auditors as required.
