About the Role

Our client, a rapidly expanding national logistics and freight forwarding company, is seeking a highly experienced and strategic Remote Dispatch Manager to lead their dispatch operations. This position is fully remote, offering the flexibility to work from anywhere within South Africa. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and optimizing the dispatch of a large fleet across the country, ensuring efficient delivery of goods and exceptional customer service. You will manage a team of dispatchers and drivers, implement best practices, and leverage technology to drive performance. This role requires strong leadership, exceptional organizational skills, and a deep understanding of the South African transport landscape. You will be instrumental in shaping the future of our client's logistics network from a remote setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, manage, and mentor a team of remote dispatchers and coordinate with a large fleet of drivers.
• Develop and implement efficient dispatch strategies and processes to optimize delivery routes and schedules.
• Oversee the day-to-day operations of the dispatch department, ensuring all shipments are handled efficiently and on time.
• Monitor fleet performance, identify key performance indicators (KPIs), and implement measures to improve efficiency and reduce costs.
• Utilize fleet management and dispatch software to track vehicles, manage loads, and ensure real-time visibility.
• Establish and maintain strong communication channels with drivers, clients, and internal departments (sales, warehousing, customer service).
• Manage emergency response protocols and handle unforeseen disruptions to delivery schedules.
• Ensure compliance with all national transportation regulations, safety standards, and company policies.
• Analyze dispatch data to generate reports on operational performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
• Contribute to strategic planning for fleet expansion, technology adoption, and operational scalability.

Requirements

• A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in dispatch management, logistics, or transportation operations, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
• Proven track record of successfully managing large fleets and complex dispatch operations, preferably in a remote setting.
• In-depth knowledge of South African transportation laws, regulations, and best practices.
• Expertise in using fleet management software, dispatching systems, and GPS tracking technology.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and develop remote teams.
• Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and crisis management abilities.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
• Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with strong skills in Microsoft Excel.
