Placements24 is seeking a talented Remote Data Scientist to join their energy analytics team in South Africa. You will develop ML models, analyze large energy datasets, and deliver insights to guide strategic decisions in a fully remote setup.

Applicants should hold a Master’s or PhD and have 5+ years of experience with Python/R, ML libraries, SQL, and big data tools. You’ll collaborate across teams and contribute to impactful energy projects.

Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in Data Science, Statistics, CS, Physics or related field.
• 5+ years of data science experience with a focus on energy analytics or related industry.
• Proficiency in Python or R with common data science libraries.
• Strong SQL skills and experience with big data tools (Spark, Hadoop).
• Solid understanding of statistical modeling, ML algorithms and data viz.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement advanced ML models for energy forecasting, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
• Analyze large, complex energy datasets to extract actionable insights and drivers.
• Design and build data pipelines for data collection, cleaning, and processing.
• Visualize findings and communicate recommendations through reports and dashboards.
• Collaborate with engineering and business teams to define data-driven strategies.
• Stay updated on the latest advances in data science and energy analytics.
