Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Data Center Operations Specialist for a fully remote role. You will monitor and manage distributed data center infrastructure from a home office, ensuring uptime, performance and security through proactive troubleshooting and remote coordination with on-site teams.

You will work with virtualization (VMware/Hyper‑V), SAN/NAS storage, and networking, using Nagios, Zabbix or SolarWinds.

Qualifications

• Experience in IT operations, system administration, or data center management.
• Strong knowledge of server hardware (x86), storage (SAN/NAS), and networking (TCP/IP, VLANs, firewalls).
• Familiarity with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) is highly desirable.
• Experience with data center monitoring tools (Nagios, Zabbix, SolarWinds) is essential.
• Excellent remote troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication for remote work.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks remotely.
• Reliable high-speed internet and a dedicated home office.
• IT certifications are a plus.
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings/weekends.

Responsibilities

• Remotely monitor data center infrastructure (servers, storage, network devices, environmental controls) using monitoring tools.
• Respond to alerts and incidents with initial diagnostics and coordinate with on-site teams for interventions.
• Perform routine maintenance: patching, updates, and configuration changes following change management.
• Assist with installation and decommissioning of IT hardware in data center facilities.
• Manage user access and permissions for IT systems.
• Document procedures, troubleshooting guides, and incident reports.
• Collaborate with IT teams, vendors, and field engineers to resolve complex issues.
• Participate in capacity planning and performance analysis.
• Maintain a secure operating environment by following security policies.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of data center processes and tools.
