Placements24 seeks an experienced Legal Counsel specializing in Corporate & Commercial law for a fully remote role. You will provide comprehensive legal support across business functions, ensuring compliance and mitigating risks in a remote-first setting.

The role involves governance, commercial contracts, regulatory advice, and strategic legal input to drive business initiatives while maintaining autonomy and impact in a remote environment.

Qualifications

• 8+ years post-qualification experience in corporate and commercial law.
• Admitted Advocate or Attorney in good standing.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills.
• Solid knowledge of South African corporate and contract law.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal advice on corporate and commercial issues.
• Draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts (service, supply, partnership, IP licenses).
• Oversee corporate governance and regulatory compliance.
• Advise on risk management and dispute resolution strategies.
• Conduct legal research to support business objectives and decisions.
• Liaise with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
• Support business development with legal input on ventures.
• Develop and implement remote-appropriate legal policies.
• Manage and resolve legal disputes and claims.
