Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a corporate legal counsel to support operations across South Africa in a fully remote role. You will provide strategic guidance on governance, compliance, and commercial contracts, shaping risk management as the business grows.

The ideal candidate has 6+ years in corporate law, in-house or at a top firm, with strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills. Remote work requires self-motivation and the ability to manage multiple priorities independently.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of experience in corporate law (in-house or law firm).
• In-depth knowledge of SA corporate law, company secretarial practices, and commercial agreements.
• Proven experience in managing complex corporate transactions.
• Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment; manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive legal advice on corporate law, M&A, and governance matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and agreements.
• Ensure compliance with applicable corporate regulations and statutory requirements.
• Manage legal aspects of corporate restructurings, joint ventures, and strategic initiatives.
• Conduct legal due diligence for investments and partnerships.
• Support the board and senior management on legal and compliance matters.
