Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled Remote Legal Counsel in contract law to draft, review, and manage a diverse portfolio of commercial contracts from anywhere in South Africa.

The ideal candidate will have 5+ years post-qualification experience, admitted as an Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of SA, and strong independent work capabilities in a remote setting with excellent communication skills.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney or Advocate of the High Court of South Africa.
• Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience in commercial contract drafting and negotiation.
• Strong ability to work independently in a remote setting.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, revise, and negotiate commercial agreements including vendor contracts and SLAs.
• Provide clear legal advice on contractual terms, obligations, and risks.
• Develop and maintain standard contract templates and playbooks.
• Manage the contract lifecycle from initiation to renewal/termination.
• Collaborate with Sales, Procurement, IT to translate business needs into contract provisions.
• Stay updated on laws affecting contract management.
• Assist in dispute resolution related to contractual matters.
• Ensure contracts align with company policies and legal requirements.
