Job summary

Placements24 seeks a remote Legal Counsel with expertise in contract law for a leading international technology firm. This fully remote role supports global commercial agreements and compliance from anywhere, including East London, Eastern Cape.

You will draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, vendor, and partnership contracts; provide strategic legal advice; and develop templates. A SA-qualified attorney with 6+ years in contract law is preferred.

Qualifications

• Admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa with 6+ years in contract law.
• Experience drafting and negotiating complex international commercial agreements.
• Strong knowledge of global contract law, common law and civil law.
• Excellent analytical, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Proficient with contract management systems and e-signature tools.
• Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
• Familiarity with IP law and data protection is preferred.
• Fluent English with strong business acumen.

Responsibilities

• Draft, review, and negotiate SaaS, vendor, partnership contracts, and NDAs.
• Provide guidance on contract interpretation, risk assessment, and dispute resolution.
• Develop standardized contract templates and playbooks.
• Collaborate with sales, procurement, product teams to meet business needs.
• Conduct legal research on global laws affecting contracts.
• Manage contract lifecycle from initiation to termination using contract management software.
• Advise on data privacy and cybersecurity clauses to comply with GDPR/POPIA.
• Deliver legal training on contract best practices.
• Improve legal processes and tools for the remote team.
