Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a proactive Construction Health and Safety Officer to lead health and safety programs across projects in a fully remote capacity. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety systems, conduct risk assessments, and guide remote site teams to maintain compliance.

The ideal candidate has SA OHS Act knowledge, SAMTRAC/NOSA qualifications, and strong skills in virtual training and safety software.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Health and Safety Officer in construction, preferably with remote oversight.
• In-depth knowledge of South African occupational health and safety legislation (OHS Act).
• Relevant professional qualification in Occupational Health and Safety (e.g., SAMTRAC, NOSA).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with ability to develop practical safety solutions.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of delivering effective virtual training.
• Proficiency in using safety management software and virtual communication platforms.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement comprehensive health and safety management systems for construction projects.
• Conduct regular virtual site audits and risk assessments to identify hazards and ensure compliance.
• Investigate accidents and incidents, recommending corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Provide expert advice and training to site personnel on health and safety procedures and best practices.
• Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, training, and incident reports.
• Stay up-to-date with relevant health and safety legislation and industry standards.
• Promote a positive safety culture through proactive communication with remote teams.
