Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a Remote Health & Safety Officer to ensure safety compliance across construction projects nationwide, with emphasis on the Free State region. You will develop, implement, and monitor safety policies, using digital tools to perform virtual inspections and risk assessments from your workspace.

The role involves delivering virtual safety training, conducting risk assessments, investigating incidents, and maintaining robust safety records.

Qualifications

• Certification in Occupational Health and Safety (NOSA, SAMTRAC, or equivalent).
• At least 3 years of experience in health and safety, preferably in construction.
• Strong knowledge of South African OHS Act and related legislation.
• Proficient with digital tools for remote communication and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain health and safety programs for construction projects.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and implement preventative measures.
• Ensure compliance with occupational health and safety legislation and standards.
• Deliver safety training and toolbox talks remotely to site teams and management.
• Investigate incidents and near misses and prepare corrective action reports.
• Maintain safety records and prepare compliance documentation.
