Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a dedicated Remote Site Safety Officer to oversee safety across construction projects from a home office in South Africa. The role focuses on developing, implementing, and monitoring safety management systems, with remote liaising to site teams and project managers to mitigate hazards.

You will conduct remote risk assessments, deliver toolbox talks virtually, and ensure adherence to SA health and safety legislation.

Qualifications

• NEBOSH or SAMTRAC qualification required.
• 4-6 years of safety officer experience in construction.
• Proven ability to develop and implement safety management systems.
• Strong knowledge of SA OHS Act and local regs.
• Excellent remote communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety management plans.
• Conduct remote risk assessments and develop control measures.
• Monitor safety performance via virtual inspections and incident analysis.
• Investigate incidents, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions.
• Ensure compliance with national and local health and safety regulations and client requirements.
