Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an experienced In-House Counsel focused on compliance for a leading financial services client. This fully remote role allows you to contribute from your home office anywhere in South Africa, while ensuring adherence to FAIS, FICA, and POPIA and other regulatory frameworks.

You will develop and implement compliance programs, monitor regulatory changes, conduct risk assessments, and advise on governance and internal controls, collaborating with operations, risk and internal

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or equivalent legal qualification.
• Admitted as an Attorney or Advocate in South Africa.
• Minimum of 6 years of legal experience, with at least 3 years in financial services compliance.
• Deep knowledge of SA financial services regulations (FAIS, FICA, POPIA).
• Experience in developing and implementing compliance frameworks.

Responsibilities

• Provide expert legal and compliance advice on regulatory matters.
• Develop, implement, and maintain compliance programs and policies.
• Monitor legislation and guidance, assess impact on the business.
• Conduct compliance risk assessments and mitigation strategies.
• Assist in regulatory inquiries and investigations.
• Review marketing materials and product documentation for compliance.
• Train employees on compliance topics and best practices.
• Advise on corporate governance and internal controls.
