Job summary

Placements24 seeks a highly experienced Civil Engineer specializing in coastal and marine engineering to join our fully remote team. You will support projects primarily in Richards Bay and surrounding coastal regions, focusing on design and management of port infrastructure, coastal protection, and offshore structures.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Civil or Coastal Engineering is required.
• Pr. Eng. registration is required.
• Minimum 10 years in coastal, port or marine civil engineering.
• Experience with numerical modeling for waves, currents, and sediment transport.
• Experience in structural design for submerged and above-water marine environments.
• Excellent remote collaboration and project management skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and engineer coastal defence structures, including breakwaters, seawalls, and revetments.
• Develop plans for port infrastructure such as jetties, quays, and dredging operations.
• Conduct hydraulic and wave modelling for coastal impact assessments and design validation.
• Prepare detailed technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings for marine projects.
• Oversee the technical aspects of construction and contractor liaison for marine works.
• Ensure designs comply with maritime regulations, environmental best practices, and international standards.
