Job summary

Placements24 seeks a Chief Mining Engineer for a fully remote role, overseeing strategic planning, design, and execution of mining operations across multiple sites. You will lead engineers, geologists, and technical staff to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations in line with best practices and regulatory standards.

The ideal candidate holds a Mining Engineering degree (Master's preferred) with 10+ years in mine planning and operations, and experience across underground/open-pit

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mining Engineering or related field.
• Master's degree highly preferred.
• Minimum 10 years in mining engineering focusing on mine planning and operations.
• Experience managing large-scale mining projects (underground/open-pit).
• Knowledge of mining methods, geology, and reserve estimation.
• Proficiency in mining planning software (Deswik, Vulcan, Surpac).
• Strong leadership, project management, and communication skills.
• Pr Eng. or equivalent international registration required.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of comprehensive mine plans (short and long term).
• Oversee mine design, feasibility studies, and efficiency improvements.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and regulatory standards.
• Mentor a team of mining engineers, geologists, and staff.
• Collaborate with exploration, processing, and management teams to optimize profitability.
• Provide expert reviews on mining methods, equipment selection, and procedures.
• Develop and manage budgets for mine planning and operations.
• Monitor KPIs to track performance and identify improvements.
