Our client, a pioneering R&D firm focused on sustainable chemical technologies, is seeking a dedicated Remote Chemical Process Engineer with a specialization in scale-up to join their distributed global team. This role is fully remote, offering flexibility and the opportunity to contribute to groundbreaking projects from anywhere. You will be instrumental in translating laboratory innovations into viable industrial processes, managing the complex journey from bench-scale experiments to pilot plant operations and eventual commercialization. Your expertise in process design, modeling, and execution of scale-up strategies will be critical to our client's success in bringing novel chemical products and processes to market.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the process scale-up activities for new chemical technologies, from conceptual design to pilot plant validation.
• Develop detailed process designs, including PFDs, P&IDs, mass and energy balances, and equipment specifications.
• Utilize process simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS) to model and optimize processes for scalability and efficiency.
• Plan and execute pilot plant trials, analyze data, and troubleshoot scale-up challenges.
• Collaborate closely with research chemists, material scientists, and external engineering partners via virtual platforms.
• Conduct thorough process hazard analyses (PHAs) and implement necessary safety protocols for pilot and scale-up operations.

Requirements

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• A minimum of 8 years of experience in chemical process development and scale-up, with a strong emphasis on transitioning novel technologies.
• Proven expertise in process modeling and simulation tools.
• Demonstrated experience in designing and operating pilot plants.
• Strong understanding of reaction engineering, thermodynamics, transport phenomena, and separation processes.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts clearly in a remote setting.
• Proficiency in virtual collaboration tools (e.g., Zoom, Teams, Slack) and project management software.
