Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an innovative Chemical Engineer with a strong R&D background to join a cutting-edge team in Port Elizabeth. Lead the full R&D lifecycle from concept to pilot-scale testing and handover for commercialization.

You will design experiments, analyze data, and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to push chemical science forward in a dynamic, fully remote role supporting breakthrough projects.

Qualifications

• Master's or Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related field.
• Minimum of 4 years of R&D experience in the chemical industry, focusing on new product or process development.
• Experience with experimental design, data analysis, and scale-up principles.
• Experience with analytical techniques and instrumentation relevant to chemical synthesis and characterization.
• Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Conduct laboratory experiments and pilot studies to develop and characterize new chemical compounds and processes.
• Design and optimize reaction conditions, separation methods, and purification techniques.
• Analyze experimental data, interpret results, and prepare detailed technical reports and presentations.
• Collaborate with chemists, material scientists, and other engineers to achieve project goals.
• Stay abreast of the latest scientific literature, patents, and technological advancements in relevant chemical fields.
• Contribute to the intellectual property strategy through invention disclosures and patent applications.
