Job summary

Placements24 is seeking an efficient and organized Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their finance team. This role focuses on managing customer accounts, processing payments, and timely collection of outstanding debts in a fully remote setting.

Based in East London, Eastern Cape, the ideal candidate will have at least 2 years of accounts receivable experience, be proficient in Xero/QuickBooks and Excel, and demonstrate strong attention to detail and time management.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; further education in accounting or bookkeeping is a plus.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in accounts receivable or a related financial role.
• Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks) and Microsoft Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reconciliation.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Effective communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage workload efficiently in a remote environment.
• Experience in collections is beneficial.
• Understanding of credit policies and procedures is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Process customer payments accurately and promptly, including checks, EFTs, and credit card payments.
• Generate and send out invoices to customers according to established schedules.
• Apply customer payments to outstanding invoices in the accounting system.
• Monitor customer accounts for overdue balances and initiate collection efforts.
• Communicate with customers regarding outstanding invoices and payment arrangements.
• Reconcile accounts receivable aging reports and investigate discrepancies.
• Assist with month-end closing activities related to accounts receivable.
• Maintain organized and accurate customer account files.
• Support internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation.
• Identify opportunities for process improvements in AR functions.
